Autism Awareness at Karate World

On Saturday, April 16, 2016 students at Karate World in Surfside Beach will host a Break-a-Thon Fundraiser for the Champion Autism Network. The event will be held at 1 pm in front of Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach. We will be learning more about Autism in classes throughout March and early April.

Autism affects 1 in 68 children and boys are four times more likely to have autism than girls. This serious developmental disorder impairs a persons ability to communicate and interact. There is no cure for autism, however treatment can help. Some autistic children are extremely sensitive to noise and bright lights and are hyper sensitive to motion.

We hope to educate our young martial artist on this subject in order to help them be more empathetic to the situation and needs of their many peers with this disorder.
